The Middle Class Tax Refund program provides rapid cash support to millions Californians. 

The majority of Middle Class Tax Refund payments will range from $200 to $1,050.

The Golden State Stimulus I and II were released in 2021 in amounts ranging from $600 to $1200. GSS I and GSS II recipients are scheduled to  receive the Middle Class Tax Credit from 10/7/22 to 11/21/22. For more information about GSS I and II, please contact the Franchise Tax Board.

Do I Qualify for the Middle Class Tax Refund?

 

You are eligible for the Middle Class Tax Refund if you:

  • Filed your 2020 tax return by October 15, 2021

  • Meet the California adjusted gross income (CA AGI) limits described on the Middle Class Tax Refund page

  • Were not eliglible to be claimed as a dependent in the 2020 tax year

  • Were a California resident for six months or more of the 2020 tax year

  • Are a California resident on the date the payment is issued

How Do I Get My Middle Class Tax Refund?

 

Eligibility is based on your 2020 tax return.

You simply need to file your taxes to receive the stimulus payment.

When Will I Get My Middle Class Tax Refund?

The California Franchise Tax Board will issue payments until the end of this year. Payments will be issued separately from your individual state tax refund via direct deposit or prepaid debit card.
